Default Installing Prophecies, Nightfall and Eye of the North [Solved]

Quick question, I had a look around but am unable to find a definite answer. I have Prophecies currently installed and patched up. I have just ordered Nightfall and Eye of the North. Now I know to add the keys to my plaync account. But do I need to install the disc's for the extra content?. Or will the keys just activate the quests to the other lands and when I travel there it will stream the update to my PC if required?.

Thanks

No, you don't have to install the discs. Just Add the key and the quests to other lands come available. It will load the new files when you enter new Missions/Areas/Outposts.

Depending on how "patched up" your current gw.dat is, installing from the discs will reduce the amount of stuff you end up downloading. But no, you don't have to use them at all.

I am only patched up as far as Prophecies. So to minimise the downloads can I install the disc's anyway?

It depends on your internet speed. I have cable and I found that the time I spent installing the discs was wasted. The downloads will still happen even if you have the discs installed, so you might as well just download everything unless you're using dial-up.

I am on 10mb cable so in that case I will just add the keys to my account and let it update if it needs to.

Thanks for the help everyone!.

Once you have added all the keys to your account there is an option to load all files at once. This will take a while though, but you don't have to load new files all the time.

Right Click on your Guild Wars icon and make it look exactly like this one, the Target line should be the same if you installed in the default location. Otherwise, make sure the -image comes after the quoted path, with a space in between the quotes and the -.

When you done this you start Guild Wars. When it's done loading all the files you remove the '-image' and it will start normally again.

You may want to do this, because it can be very annoying when you're playing with friends and have to load all the time. Sometimes it can take like 10minutes.

Or you can create a second GW shortcut and put the image tag on it. Then you wont have to go back and modify the shortcut again. I run -image download every week without deleting the dat file) to make sure I get all content at once.

Yeah I made a second shortcut titled "Guild Wars Update" and let it run over night. I now have a 3.56GB dat file, and I only have the Prophecies campaign, but I plan on buying Factions, Nightfall, and EoTN this summer, which means all I have to do is enter my keys on the account screen. I am doing the same for my laptop right now.

Thanks for all the advice. I made a copy of the shortcut and named it "Guild Wars Update" and used the image switch and left it over night. I know also have a 3.65GB dat file. But at least everythings there.

Thanks for the help, this is a friendly community.
